Golden Opportunity
The National Forest Service in Southern California is updating the "Forest Plan". The Forest Service planers are asking for input from Forest users during this long process, and with a majority of our fling sites on Forest Service lands, this is a great opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship with the Forest Service and get our sport "writen in" as one of the appropriate activities.

The Ramey Challenge
At long last the clouds cleared and the much delayed competition was finally on. We certainly couldn't have picked a better meet director than "Our Bob"!
Bald Eagle and Gilbert's Hang Gliding Trip to Mexico.
Just back from a great week of flying in Valle de Bravo. Valle is a rather nice resort town almost three hours drive north of Mexico City. Imagine our distress in the second hour rattling sardined in a small pickup, to peer out into the darkness and see the unmistakable glow of six inches of fresh slushy snow and the traffic slipping and sliding all over the two lane 10,300 foot pass we had to get over.
Big Sur in April
Ominous signs pointed to another Big Sur Trip that would be rained out. The front was moving through. The question being, would the entire weekend be ruined, or would there be a few flyable moments. WE all know what Big Sur can due in stormy weather

Round House Rules
On Saturday, January 20, 2001, visiting pilots from Ojai flew close to the windows on the Round House when Judy Smith was in her bathroom. And she is furious, and after her husband Norman to do something about it, like write to the City Council and the FAA.
Pilots First Hang Gliding Flight to Lake Casitas
Some times you just know that something good is going to happen. All weather reports were indicating great flying conditions for Santa Barbara. Cool temperatures, a clear day and light winds.
That Fun Landing Thing!
I had a great landing at Hendry’s Beach on December 11th. I had secured a 7/8"-diameter by 5-foot-long PVC tube to each lower-rear flying wire so that when I came in to land, I could switch my hands from the control bar to the PVC tubes, after leveling and waiting to flare.
Big Sur Did Not Disappoint
The storms came, and so did we! This was a test of endurance between us and mother nature, and we were not going to let the grandest power of all defeat us.
