This letter is my swan song, from the Wind Song! I am leaving the webmaster duties. You won't have me to kick around any more. Actually, I think that this web site needs new blood, new ideas, and new energy. I wanted to let go the reigns two years ago, but no one stepped up to volunteer, so I carried on with the efforts. When YNA came to me and said that the BOD had talked about my duties, and that they thought that I needed help, I took the opportunity to back out. They had several people volunteering to help and I suggested that one of them be nominated to the position. I would trust any of them to do a good job so there won't be a drop off in quality. In fact, I would hazard to guess that there will be an improvement. So there you have it. I guess that this is it! I want to thank everyone for his or her support over the years. I started assisting John deBruin in his efforts to create a newsletter way back in 1994. I took over after he went on to become club president, and I was just looking after it, until he wanted it back, but he never wanted it back. It was too bad too, because he was great at it, and very good at motivating people to contribute. While writing this article, I thought about the great articles that came through my desk. I am proud of the material that was published. Among the many works that were submitted to be published, were articles from Africa, South America, as well as, an Aircraft Carrier from the Persian Gulf. Our newsletter really traveled. That became old hat, however, when the newsletter became a web site. I then received email from all over the world. I just received an email from someone who had gotten my name off of a Slovakian Web Site. Russia, no problem, they have heard from us. I bet that there is not one country that has not heard of the Wind Song! The next thing that I would like to mention involves an attempt to make it easier for the next webmaster. That person needs all of the support possible. A web page is easy, but it is like building a house. You cannot build a house without lumber, so too you cannot build a web page without material. So if you have an idea, or a great flight, or just want to let off steam, write about it, and submit it. We all want to hear about it. The more the site changes, the more people will visit the site, and that is the ultimate goal. Thank you my friends, you are the best club, and the best friends that exist!!!!! Jammy |
