WEEKEND MORNINGS AS A
HANG-GLIDER PILOT'S WOMAN:

by "Hotsauce"
Ah, Sunday mornings, a time to lounge in bed with your loved one and roll around in the hay. Sound good eh? Well, this isn't exactly the picture when you have a hang-glider pilot in your bed. Your morning will begin with a quick kiss (if they remember you're there) and then the search for the phone begins. The first call of the morning is to another "woman" name Debbie. After she spews out some info, it's on to the TV for the "Weather Channel". (Like Debbie didn't have an accurate picture!) After learning what the weather is doing in Maine and South Dakota, the West Coast forecast finally rolls around.
After digesting this information, it's back to the phone to call "Millington". I think he and Debbie should date, because the information these two put out is considered "sacred". During the course of this call, plans are made and firmed up and the group will meet. Did I mention that hang-gliders have the propensity to "waffle"….and I always thought this was something to eat.
Now, this is when the picture gets sweet. You see, hang-glider pilots need "drivers" like a "waffle" needs syrup. Your pilot will turn on the charm to get you to go up to the mountains with him and drive for the group. I have done this a couple of times, and I have to admit, it's pretty darn fun…But once they've launched into the sky and you're left earth bound, it can get s-l-o-w. I usually use this time to peruse through the items strewn about my pilots truck. You can find some interesting information during this foray into the unknown. Once I found some food that had turned into a definite science project. You probably could have injected it into someone as penicillian.
My favorite part of the day is when they finally land and the celebratory beer is poured. All in all, life with a hang-glider pilot is never dull…and the week nights are steamy….
     Happy flying all -
